The Initiative Nepal also raised its voice against poverty namely against the poverty in Nepal. A terrible civil war in Nepal, which already caused more than 12 000 dead people, is presently dramatizing and in our opinion the reason for poverty in Nepal because it is paralyzing all economical, democratizing and educational efforts. This conflict between the royal ruler of Nepal and the Maoists, who demand a communistic Nepal but aren´t recognized as a political party because of their increasing radicalism, doesn´t seem to attract much attention in the world. The goal of the Live 8 concerts around the world was to stand up for such poor countries and to put the most powerful men of the world under pressure. That was our reason for raising our voice. It felt good to be part of such a big movement eventhough we probably couldn´t achieve too much with our banner (“Poverty in Nepal = consequence of the civil war! Why is nobody paying attention?”). But being part of the Life 8 event gave us inspiration and motivation to keep on fighting against poverty.
